Ramiro de Almeida graduated in Biochemistry and obtained his PhD in Cell Biology from University of Coimbra, Portugal. Dr. Almeida developed his postdoctoral studies at Weill Medical College of Cornel University, New York, USA. In 2010 Dr. Almeida was awarded a Marie Curie re-integration grant and became a Principal investigator at Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology.In clinical practice, he worked for several years in the Emergency Department at “Aveiro Hospital” and performed Pre-Hospital Care for “National Emergency Medical Institute”. He is a Certified Trainer in “Basic Life Support-Automated External Defibrillation” and in “Clinical Simulation”.

In 2017 he joined the Department of Medical Sciences as an assistant professor and he is currently the Director of the Masters in Molecular Biomedicine and the Head of the Neuronal development and regeneration laboratory at iBiMED.
