Torcato Martins

Auxiliary Researcher

Torcato Martins completed his PhD in Biomedical Sciences in 2010 at ICBAS, University of Porto. Since then, he has been using Drosophila melanogaster to address fundamental questions underlying the coordination of organ differentiation with cell division.

In 2021, Torcato was awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship to return from the United Kingdom. Subsequently, he received a CEEC Assistant Researcher contract to establish his independent research line at iBiMED. His current aims are to use the latest genomic editing techniques to explore the cell-intrinsic mechanisms that restrict cellular responses to strong oncogenic signals.
