Ana Gabriela Henriques

Assistant Professor

AGH is graduated in Biology at the University of Aveiro (2000), with a MSc in Molecular Microbiology (2003) and PhD on the molecular basis of Alzheimer’s disease (2009). Currently she is an Assistant Professor at the Medical Sciences Department of the University of Aveiro. AGH coordinates a research team in the field of diagnostics and biomarker discovery for dementia, the “Biomarker Discovery Group”.

AGH group explores the potential of Extracellular Vesicles and their cargo as novel diagnostics tools for dementia and their involvement in signaling pathways linked to Alzheimer´s disease. AGH was funded in 2019 by the American Alzheimer ́s Association research grant program, to run the EXO_DIAG_AD project; and participated in more than 15 research projects during her scientific career. Her research work resulted in more than 40 published papers in international peer-reviewed journals and 3 book chapters (h-index= 20; >1250 citations).
