Bruno Neves

Assistant Professor

He graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Coimbra (2006) and did a PhD on Molecular and Cellular Biology at the Centre for Neurosciences and Cell Biology, University of Coimbra (2011). From 2011 to 2018 I was invited professor at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Aveiro and at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra.

Currently he is investigator at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (iBiMED) and assistant professor at the Medical Sciences Department where I assume the direction of the BSc in Biomedical Sciences. The work he developed during his career resulted on the advancement of knowledge on the dendritic cell immunobiology, particularly the molecular mechanisms governing their maturation process. During his PhD, he was focused on how haptens (skin and respiratory allergic sensitizers) activate dendritic cells, and on how this information could be used to design novel in vitro tests for sensitizers identification.
