Ana Raquel Soares

Auxiliary Researcher

Ana Raquel Soares holds a PharmD and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Cellular and Molecular Biology branch) from the University of Coimbra. Since 2020 she is an Assistant Researcher at the Institute of Biomedicine (iBiMED), and leads the "tRNA Epitranscriptome and Disease" (tRED) group.

Her research is focused on the understanding of gene expression regulation mechanisms, particularly at the level of mRNA translation and on the impact of non-coding RNA molecules in this process. Her group is mainly interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms governing tRNA modifications, their relevance for translation control and what drives tRNA modification disruption, and consequently, translation dysfunction and its relevance in the context of disease and disease susceptibility.
