Luísa Helguero
Assistant Professor
Luisa Helguero graduated in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at Universidad de Buenos Aires, where she also obtained her PhD. She then moved to Karolinska Institutet to specialize in nuclear receptor biology in Jan-Ake Gustafsson’s group. She is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Sciences at Universidade de Aveiro and leads the Hormones & Cancer Lab at iBiMED.
Her group aims to identify molecular markers to predict cancer response to therapy and essential cellular pathways that regulate metabolic and proteotoxic stress with therapeutic potential. The lab applies proteomics and metabolomics to characterize differences in cell line models and mammary tumors, followed by hypothesis testing with functional assays in vitro and in vivo.
