
Bruno Jesus
Assistant Professor
Bruno Jesus graduated in Biochemistry at the University of Coimbra (2003) and earned a PhD on Molecular and Cellular Biology at the IGBMC, Louis Pasteur University, Strasbourg (2008). From 2009 to 2014, he was Junior researcher at CNIO, Madrid at the Laboratory of Maria Blasco, and from 2014 to 2018 he was senior researcher at IMM-JLA.
Currently he is assistant professor at Medical Sciences Department, UA and Principal Investigator at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (iBiMED). His research focus on the biology of aging, and how aging affects cell-state conversion. BBJ received strategic grants from several funding agencies, totaling more than 1.1M€. Since 2022 he was appointed coordinator of iBiMED.
My research has been focussed on molecular mechanisms driving aging as well as age related diseases and I have been fortunate enough together with my colleagues and collaborators to have achieved significant contributions to this exciting field.
